About Pilates
Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on core stability and bodily alignment, while building strength, endurance and mobility. Pilates is practiced on a mat, or across a range of other equipment. As such, it is accessible to people of all abilities and ages and is a great way to exercise the whole body. Pilates is found to be restorative as it encourages a strong mind-body connection and is a fantastic addition to any training program.
The Principles of Pilates are the guiding ideas to keep in mind as you practice:
Commitment, Alignment, Centring, Breath, Flow, Control, Precision, Concentration

About your instructor
Alana moved to the Mid-North Coast in 2022 and completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction through National Pilates Training in 2024. During her study, Alana was mentored by expert Pilates Instructor, ex-professional athlete and certified remedial massage therapist Belinda Johnson at Smart Pilates (Port Macquarie), where she went on to work as an instructor. Prior to its closure, Alana was also instructing at The Health Lodge (Gladstone) with guidance from Osteopath Tess Shannon.
Alana grew up in Melbourne and throughout her life has always loved being active, with a particular passion for her dance training. Alana was introduced to Pilates through ballet and fell in love with Pilates because of its functionality in supporting her fitness to then improve her dancing and overall strength and endurance.
Alana has over 10 years of dance teaching experience, but found she wanted to expand her offering to allow her to help as many people as possible to safely improve their fitness and general health and she strongly believes that practicing Pilates is a phenomenal way to do so.
